Luxury Tailor Made Holidays

When it comes to holidays, the word luxury conjures up grandness. This article looks at what makes a luxury holiday and specifically looks at luxury tailor made holidays. Luxury feels indulgent and something that we all crave although it does mean different things to different people but something that we can all taste at least once in our lives.

Many of us who are not accustomed to luxury, the word can have a very broad meaning. Images associated with holidays can include four poster beds, feather pillows, breakfast in bed every morning, someone running a soapy bath for you or checking that your shower temperature is right before you step in, having a massage every day, weekly manicures and pedicures. Outside travel, luxury might include someone to do your ironing or shopping for your, the list goes on.

Then there is simple luxury. The luxury of a candlelit bubble bath after a hard day at work, the luxury of a holiday alone with your partner whilst your parents baby sit the kids, breakfast in bed. The majority of us, not born into luxury will more than likely have it better than those born into it, although many won?t see it that way. The reason why is that we can value the smaller gestures as luxuries as we have not got to the stage where we need more and more to make us feel special or pampered. We are able to be more fulfilled and content.

Whilst we don?t need more, we would all like more luxury in our lives as our lives are surrounded by advertising pandering to that desire. You need this, this will make you more attractive, eat this, look at that, wear this and be like that. People get sucked in by this and believe or hope in it so they buy the products or services and their lives are, for the most part, not miraculously changed.

The term luxury certainly cannot be held responsible for this and luxury is still a great thing. Luxury tailor made holidays are the best. Why? Because what are holidays for if not for spoiling yourself? A luxury holiday merely takes that concept one step further. The type of accommodation and destination is solely up to you.

Luxury Tailor Made Holidays are virtually the same but a holiday that you simply cannot buy 'off-the-shelf'. They usually involve creating your own itinerary through a specialised holiday company who provide expert assistance and recommendation, offer combinations of countries or hotels, rearrange routes and all in all, a more personal package to suit your needs. The world is your oyster, and they we will do their utmost to deal with any requests that you have.

Luxury comes in all shapes and sizes. You get luxury hotels, luxury apartments, luxury villas, just about anything you can imagine. If it can be lived in, it can be turned into luxury quarters fit for Paris Hilton.

There are a few things that all places that offer luxury accommodation should have in common; the rest is up to them. All bedrooms must be en suite. This is not negotiable. It is not luxury to share a bathroom with another guest. Your own bathroom is luxury. Additional mandatory requirements include luxury shampoo and conditioner and dressing gowns. All bedrooms must have tea and coffee making facilities which include complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk/powdered milk stuff. There must be a hair dryer. There must be a TV, preferably LCD with the full range of that country?s version of satellite or cable TV. It is luxury after all. Chocolates on pillows, flowers or something similar, but there has to be something on the pillows at night.

Everyone expects a great experience while on holiday: after all, holidays afford the opportunity to relax, see some spectacular sights and take part in exciting activities that you wouldn't normally get to engage in during your day-to-day routine at home. Yet alongside such expectations, there's nothing better than when you're pleasantly surprised with something a little bit more on your holiday.

When you're on a holiday, especially a luxury holiday, the little things can make a world of difference. Whether that's the bottle of champagne you find waiting in your room upon check-in, or the extra bit of care the hotel staff take to look after you during your stay, it's sure to make your experience just a little more special.

In fact, many holidaymakers look out for such qualities when seeking accommodation for their getaway, found through widespread reputation or word-of-mouth. So it's no surprise that, with so many choices for accommodation in any given holiday destination, hotels are truly making an effort to stand out. In fact, many hotels make it a point to pleasantly surprise their guests with special doings and outstanding "star" treatment.

For luxury status, staff must be attentive and friendly and meet special requirements if there are any. They must also be knowledgeable about the city and region so as to give tourist advice and guidance and just to be able to chat.

Additional requirements that are optional but would be very nice include, the hosts providing a bed and breakfast service, private cars being made available for shopping or touring excursions, the arrangement of special tours, a computer terminal available to guests to enable them to check their emails and maybe search tourist hot spots.

You can do your own research by visiting websites such as Trip Advisor who provide unbiased reviews on hotels and destinations or You Tube where you can view videos on a particular destination.

The best time to go on a luxury holiday is out of season or off peak. It is moderately less expensive and you won?t have to deal with masses of other tourists. Prices of touristy goods should also be down a bit form their peak season highs.

The best part is that if you have children, they will probably have to stay in school so you will have to leave them behind with the grandparents or some trusted friends. And that is the true definition of a luxury holiday.

Sun Seekers Ditch Green Thoughts

Holidaymakers have traditionally left their cares at home ? and a new survey suggests this now includes care for the environment.

The survey ? by the leading boutique and a luxury hotels booking website found that while many people think hotels should do more to protect the environment, only a tiny percentage actively seek out a green hotel.

Nearly twelve-hundred travellers were asked how hotels could do more to reduce their carbon footprint and the most popular were:
  • Make better use of solar power (41%)
  • Waste less food (32%)
  • Stop giving away free shampoo and shower gel (14%)
  • Turn the heating/air conditioning down (7%)
Of the big up-scale hotels, the Hilton and Marriott groups scored highest in the green stakes. But even if a chain of hotels were to base its reputation on an environmentally friendly policy, 84% of people asked said they would not be willing to pay a fee to join the club.

The Managing Director of Luxique.com, Alex Brey, commented: ?We commissioned this survey to test the potential for an environmentally friendly hotel booking service.?

?The results clearly show that, despite paying lip service to green issues, holidaymakers leave all thoughts of this nature on the tarmac. We were really surprised.?
